DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

Department of History, Progati College, Agomani comes into existence in 1991 to impart quality, education it emphasizes also on imparting a discipline and value-based education. The present strength of Students is about 80 and the Department has a library of around 150 Books. The long-term mission is to increase the interest of Regional, National and International History among the Students and also to involve the students to explore the History of the region. The main objectives of Dept. is to impart knowledge on the Society, Culture, Religion & Polity of ancient, medieval and modern India as well as North east India. Through discussion and Seminar, among the Students our course is designed in such a manner as to provide better knowledge of Europe in ancient. Medieval & modern age and also the History of far-east Asia . In order to all round development of students our Dept. always encourages Students to excellerate co-curricular activities to be perfect andresponsible citizen of India. 

Vision:

The History department of Progati College, Agomani aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through the teaching, research and extension activity in context to Indian and World History which will enable the students to understand the present and to look towards the future.

Mission:

1. Promote studies in history, society, religion and culture of Assam, India and World.
2. Empower students to cope with the challenges of globalization to make knowledge about the interconnection between the Global, National, Regional and Local History.
