DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY
The Department of Geography Progati College, Agomani, has been opened in the year of 2000 and got the Gauhati University Permission in 2007, Under the able and visionary leadership of the Principal of the Progati College, Agomani. Mr. Amzad Ali Ahmed, has joined as Asstt. Prof. first, in this department. The introduction of Geography in College has opened new vistas for the students of the region. Under the able guidance and hard work of Assistant Prof. Mr. Amzad Ali, the Department, continue to flourish from a humble beginning with General Course level to reach the Present Status because of entering effort of the faculty members as well as College authority. Major Course in Geography introduced in degree level. The Department not only caters the need of the Students of the Dhubri district of entire lower Assam, north bank of the Brahmaputra River but also Students from other States like West Bengal.
The First Batch Students in Geography Major Course were appeared final Examination 2017. The department have been achieving excellent performance of Students in the results every year. The First Batch of Students in Major Course have secured 1st class under Gauhati University.
The department has its own departmental Library with more than 300 text books and reference books.
Department has been Organizing series of Special Lecture for the Students every year. A workshop on Deforestation was Organized as a part of environmental awareness Campaign. A workshop on “Biodiversity Conservation” was Organized by the Geography department 2016. Another Seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction on 2018. Another Seminar arrange the geography department Earthquake and Landslide management.
