DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
History:
The Department of Economics is one of the pioneering Department of Progati College, Agomani. Our department is imparting quality Education at Under Graduate level for both Regular and Honours Courses. Economics Department was started from the date of establishment of the College in 1991. As an affiliated institution of Higher Education under Guwahati University . The founder faculty members of the Department are Md. Khairul Alom and Mr. Ratan Saha. Later , Mr. Ashish Kundu and Mr. Abanindra Debnath joined the Department . Present faculty members are Mr. Pranab Kumar Podder (H.O.D), Mr. Mainul Hoque, Mr. Abanindra Debnath (Hons.).
Mission:
The primary mission of the Department of Economics is to offer quality Education and Educational opportunities to Students in order to prepare them to become accomplished Citizens and the never-ending Contribution for the Society. The faculty members of our department places an emphasis on excellence in teaching through continuous guidance and Self improvement Programmes. The Department also aims to cater financial aid to the poor Students and envisages the young minds in logical traits and transform towards to better Society.
Vision:
The Department of Economics enlighten Students about the Economics affairs of the Country. Our Department is Committed to the advancement of knowledge and learning . The Vision of the Department is to serve Regular Teaching-learning process and actively engage the Students in Seminars , Conducting Surveys and workshops. The Department conduct career counselling camps for the Students in time to time . The young visionary minds gets wide range of Book in the Developmental Library . Our goal is to sustain continuous improvement and contribution towards Society .
